TMS Recovery: Mind-Body Breakthrough in Pain Relief

About TMS

Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS), previously known as Tension Myositis Syndrome, refers to a group of emotionally-induced conditions including most cases of chronic or recurring back pain, neck pain, limb pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome/RSI and Fibromyalgia.

The TMS theory has been developed by Dr John Sarno, Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the New York University Hospital School of Medicine and author of Healing Back Pain, The Mindbody Prescription and The Divided Mind.

Although not yet integrated into mainstream medicine, Dr Sarno’s work has encouraged other Doctors and health professionals worldwide to incorporate a more integrated approach to their work, not just addressing the physical aspect of a health problem. The TMS concept provides an answer to many people’s long term or recurring pain, as well as teaching all of us who are open to it how to prevent future health problems by acknowledging our emotions as we go through life.

This site aims to;

  • support TMS sufferers by providing information to help in their recovery
  • raise the profile of the TMS concept in the UK
  • provide details of other TMS trained practitioners in the UK
